a collaborative effort with @taylorhang exploring the feeling of alienation and strangeness when returning to one's native land as an adult for the first time in a long time.
i chose not to caption translate the dialogue to reinforce a feeling of confusion and disorientation that result from my inferior native tongue skills. huge gratitude to @chasew for playing my counterpart in this — as someone who grew up in america and found a real sense of belonging and purpose in china while becoming fluent in the language, he was the perfect character to speak in this film as a juxtaposition to my feeling like an outsider trapped between the line of looking like i should belong but internally feeling 7000 miles away.
