Want a tiny break from the day or something peaceful to think about before you drift off to sleep? If your put your headphones on&really watch&listen I think you look around a bit differently today/tonight... I hope this inspires you as much as it inspired me. There are 4 videos total. This excerpt from Carl Sagan's book Pale Blue Dot (1994) was inspired by an image taken, at Sagan's suggestion, by Voyager 1 on Feb 14, 1990. From a distance of about 6 billion km, Voyager 1, which had completed its primary mission and was leaving the Solar System, was commanded by NASA to turn its camera around and take one last photo of Earth across a great expanse of space, at the request of Carl Sagan. The accompanying words, written 27 yrs ago are still relevant today.

My response to this will never be seen by you because it is a tiny blue dot in the great expanse ... but to me I am taking the time out of my morning before work to respond because it is relevant to me ....In 1992 I was in my mid 20s. It was an unusually warm eve before Christmas Eve and I was at a party . I stepped outside with a friend and we gazed at the starry sky and I remarked how insignificant we were to the universe....The very next morning I was woken up by a phone call and my mom frantically crying . My father had gone to the gym and had a heart attack on the stair master . My father died that morning... I felt the irony ... the lesson I was being taught There is so much awe and wonder about the vastness of the universe and what is out there . I do wonder and feel incredibly humbled by it all but everything is relative . To a bacterium we are a planet,to the universe a quark , but to the people , places, things that we are fortunate enough to operate within the same measurable scientifically defined parameters we are more significant then that No matter how large or small our arms reach we are significant and we do matter to the people and places that surround us .So how once I over obsessed about what my existence meant that day I was reminded ... It’s about how We effect the people, places , and environment that surround us now. . I’d say you are doing a good job😊... Thanks for the inspiration. There is a ghost of a chance you will see this but I guess I needed to write it anyway peace

OMG just watched this twice and I just love it and all of it is so true. I am a avid fan of Sci-fi. I learned in my Masters in Theology that it was like the new Bible...please don't shoot me down for saying that. Th ed reason is because it tell stories that have a moral and ethical underlying theme like the NT parables. They help understand these morals in a contemporary context. Anyway, thanks Ian I found this very inspiring.

@taylorleanne95 See, this is what I was literally just talking about last night. It’s just the same feeling when you look at the night sky, it just switches up your perspective of everything. It’s makes everything else just seem so small.

It’s my favourite! I share this speech every year, both Carl and Neil deGrasse Tyson’s versions. We’re so lucky to even be here for however long we get 🌏
