My crew and I just finished a large mural in the center of Paris next to the Pompidou Center and in front of the Stravinsky Fountain. The location is amazing because it is a busy plaza where people congregate adjacent to the Cathedral of Saint Mary. The Knowledge + Action mural is inspired by Art Nouveau but with a very currently relevant message. Apathy and ignorance have promoted a decline in civility and quality civic engagement, giving rise to forces who promote fear, division, and nationalism. We all need to understand the importance of both educating ourselves and taking action as we shape the future. I was honored that the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, came to the mural unveiling, and gave authorization and support for me to paint in a historical location. This project was facilitated by Mehdi Ben Cheikh of @galerie_itinerrance with whom I’m showing my art. tencentpoetry Hi Shepard. This is a very moving piece. There is a fleet of women, like myself, who are remembering our old lives. We have been here for a long time, working through books and the word to bring peace to our communities. You’ve painted us. Blue is our color, as it signifies the hottest part of the fire, water, as well as the heavens. These are the places we work from. With The Great Shift we are learning to speak out and share what we've harvested from the flame. This mural seems like a tribute and a subconscious recognition to this revolution of peace. I’ve had people find themselves in my songs, but I’ve never found my”self” in a painting. It is very encouraging. What a blessing for Paris, a city of intuition, mystery and knowledge. Please come paint in Asheville, NC. We can collaborate. I can outfit you with the best painters in the South. Big love from the Blue Ridge.
