Bullying is one of the things that I think would happen way less if people were comfortable sharing their vulnerability and processing emotions. It’s a sad cycle because people’s insecurities get projected at others and just create more pain and disconnect.
I’ve experienced and witnessed the effects of bullying a lot throughout my life, from the obvious and aggressive to the more subtle, sneaky forms and I know that without support, the impacts of these interactions can stay with us for life, subconsciously affecting how we feel about ourselves and social interaction.
So today I’m jumping on the train with @augustethelabel ‘s anti bullying campaign. ALL profits from these Hero tees will be donated to @cybersmilefoundation and @alannahmadeline National Centre Against Bullying for research, education, and support programs to create more positive communities, both online and offline. I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences around bullying and what’s has been most helpful on your journey. Aaand if you feel passionate about helping kids in Australia who are battling with this right now then get involved and buy a tee!

I used to get teased right off the bat in primary school for my hairy arms. Gorilla, ape, etc were names o used to be called. In modelling when I was due for digis, agencies sent me back home to@shave my arms first. Kids AND adults alike found my natural, human, female arms to be repulsive. I shave them every few months to this day. The first time I dealt with it was when I was 11 - I used hair removal cream (essentially, acid) on my arms to remove it. Bullying is the worst!!

I stumbled onto your page and am really glad that I did as you bring up a lot of points that have been front and centre in my mind recently. 100% agree about being vulnerable, I think we are far more robust when we accept all sides of ourselves and work to build confidence around the things we're ashamed of. Because people can only hurt you by pointing out things about yourself that you yourself don't like. Keep up the positive messages!

#cass___e I have hairy arms too and I remember some kids used to laugh at me at school about it and modelling in Japan they hated it too.. I still don’t shave them because it felt even more strange for me but I remember feeling like it was something to be embarrassed about at the time. Crazyness.

? Very good cause, hope you help as many kids as possible. Being bullied really does impact you as an adult (I now see a psychologist for these past traumas). Definitely great that you’re taking a stance! ??
