Next Sunday, June 23rd is Irei no Hi - Okinawa's Peace Memorial Day.
Every year as the clock strikes noon, Okinawans take a moment of silence for the lives lost during the Battle of Okinawa. The Cornerstone of Peace was built to commemorate those lost, to pray for peace, and to pass on lessons learned from the war.
