We LOVE an item, we LOVE a person, we LOVE an action, we LOVE a place or a situation, but how often do we stop to REALLY LOVE and appreciate the most important person, place or thing that could and should be loved the most? That ultimate possessive and intensive pronoun I’m talking about is “YOURSELF” or “MYSELF” if we want to get real technical here. How often do you stop to smell your OWN flowers? Sure, we appreciate the LOVE others have all of the time, but what a lot of people don’t realize that with the love of two people first comes LOVE for yourself, number 1, the quarterback or star pitcher of your life is what I like to call it. Self love is crucial to a happy and healthy life, if we don’t take time out of our crazy schedules to celebrate #1 who will? I want y’all to do yourselves a favor this weekend, take an hour for yourself and go somewhere quiet. A park, a library, a secluded beach, a curbside in a favorite neighborhood, someplace possibly that is inspiring to you (that’s safe of course). Go alone turn off your phone, turn off your brain and just be present with yourself. (Bring a pen/notebook) Take this time to breathe deep and make a list of the things or activities that make YOU happy, things that inspire you to love yourself and that being you happiness. Something that makes you shine from the inside out. It can be spending time with a relative you haven’t visited in a long time, it could be a massage, or making music, taking that long deserved yoga class or painting. Whatever it is make a list then make it your personal goal to live out as many SELF LOVE projects as you can in one month. I PROMISE you it will be good for our soul. LOVE one another, LOVE thy stranger, but above all, LOVE yourself in whatever beautiful color, race, sexuality, shape, form or size you come in, just LOVE!
