Yesterday the UK Government responded to the Environmental Audit Committee's Fixing Fashion report, published in February. Ministers essentially rejected every recommendation - basically, sympathetic but passive.
Katharine says, "It's tragic. The report wasn't hard hitting enough anyway and the fact that the government has rebutted all of their recommendations, shows that we are at absolute zero in dealing with these situations where workers are exploited, waste carries on unabated and the environment is damaged irreparably."

thegardengoddessltd Apathetic and nothing will change because it’s not in big corporations interests and they are the ones that feed politicians. It’s sad but it’s already too late to sort this planet because we have China being the Black Death on everything they touch. We can do our little bit but quickly everything including our oceans are dying. When our ocean dies we die....that is something they haven’t told the public! Get real unless we culturally change nothing will change.

assembleemcr This excess wasn’t such a problem when we still had import quotas. Don’t mean to sound too retrospective, but who really benefits from the removal of the import quotas? I don’t think it’s the economy, local suppliers or customers-high MOQ’s are killing choice and independence.

vahide_b_b I wish they could all be put on trial. Turning a blind eye to what’s happening for own short term gains. Politicians are nothing but aggressive thugs in suits and we shouldn’t give up putting pressure on each and every one of them.
