Just months after a settlement with the SEC over his Twitter use, Tesla CEO Elon Musk says he “just deleted” his Twitter account. He made his statement in a tweet, but his account still appeared to be active after the post. Musk changed his user name to “Daddy DotCom.”
Musk's Twitter account has faced scrutiny, after a recent tweet landed him in hot water with regulators. In November, Musk was penalized by the SEC for tweeting that he had secured funding to take Tesla private. A few months later, the SEC said Musk violated the terms of the penalty.
In May, Musk made a deal with the SEC that requires a lawyer to approve any of his social media posts that include material information about Tesla.
