#ArtBasel: Man Ray's "Larmes de Verre" (c. 1932) is currently on display in our booth, C9, at Art Basel. The fair is open through Sunday, June 16!

Man Ray was first and foremost a photographer, but quickly discovered an instinctive ability to go beyond the reproduction of reality for which photography had been conceived—tweaking negatives and manipulating exposure in order to create distinctive images. "Larmes de Verre" encapsulates a conflict that lies at the heart of Man Ray’s work: the tension between popular, commercial activity and a desire to produce high art.
