The assignment I’m covering will dictate what gear I pack. I’m a candyholic, so no matter what I’m covering I cram a pack of sour patch candies into the side pocket of my camera bag… they are so good! If I’m covering spot news, I use my 100-400mm lens. In LA, where I’m based, the LAPD seal off a crime scene –sometimes blocks away from where the violence occurred- so I need a powerful zoom to make the picture. It’s a light lens and easy to carry around. I also like to work with it for sports feature stories. It’s what we call a ‘street sweeper’ because of its varied focal lengths. If I’m working on stories where I want to convey an intimate point of you I use prime lenses - a 24, 35 or 50mm. I photograph full frame so when I’m using a 24mm, or 35mm, I’m close to the subject which captures emotions authentically. I also like the aesthetic of a wide-open f-stop on prime lens. I like to use one camera when I’m working - it keeps the weight down and helps me navigate a story a little more incognito. A lot of my work is editorial and I’m often photographing people in distress so I approach scenes delicately… I try not to be an intimidating force. My 5D Mark IV’s are my assignment go-to cameras. They are extraordinary in low light conditions and since I rarely use artificial light I need a camera that offers crisp files in poor lighting situations. When I’m using it for video, my go to lens is the 24-105mm. It has such a lovely versatility and it allows me to get most of the shots I need. My 85mm f/1.4L IS USM lens is my portrait lens – it’s sharp and doesn’t distort the subjects’ features. I always carry a portable hard drive and extra flashcards that I keep in my trusted Westie pink purse. In the trunk of my car I have protective goggles and a helmet in case I’m covering a violent protest. I also pack a notebook, fountain pen, flashlight, and passport - my travel docs to cover the world”」6月14日 1時19分 - canonusa
