グッゲンハイム美術館さんのインスタグラム写真 - (グッゲンハイム美術館Instagram)「#MapplethorpeMondays—Robert Mapplethorpe's portrait of Andy Warhol, imagined as a religious icon with a halo of light around his head, marked a long-standing relationship between the two artists. Mapplethorpe first met Warhol when he served as a staff photographer for Warhol’s celebrity-studded magazine, @Interviewmag. By depicting Warhol this way, Mapplethorpe connected himself to the commercial savvy and aspiration to fame that Warhol came to represent but unlike Warhol and his deadpan images of commodified celebrity, Mapplethorpe conceived his portraiture as capturing genuine expressions of his sitters’ personalities.
