#ArtBasel: Tom Wesselmann's "Still Life #48" (1964) will be featured in our booth, C9, at Art Basel.

Wesselmann's "Still Life #48" is among the artist's earliest endeavors into what would become his signature aesthetic. Comprising a jar of Hellmann’s Mayonnaise and a tomato, this work unabashedly reintroduces realism and the still life into art after the dominance of Abstract Expressionism. This artwork is a remarkable example of Wesselmann’s newly-found confidence in an aesthetic that would come to define the Pop movement as a whole.
