I began to realise more and more the power of this artwork as a testament to lost youth - each time a group of school children came through the door, they notice Thyrsis first, pointing and giggling. The adults pass right on by and don’t offer him a second glance.  Once a fellow came in with his daughter and said "We only have five minutes, what would you recommend?" I turned to his daughter and said "Do you want to see something pretty or something weird?" and she thought about it and said "Weird." I would’ve pointed them to the 1840s room if she’d said pretty, but I was so glad she chose weird. At that time Marguerite Humeau’s ‘Echoes’ was on display in #ArtNow so I directed them there.
