How does the trauma of a natural disaster affect a community? As it turns out, one of the best places to begin looking for answers may be a small, strange island full of monkeys. The island Cayo Santiago sits about a half-mile off the southeast coast of Puerto Rico, near a village called Punta Santiago. It is home to hundreds of rhesus macaques, whose population scientists have studied meticulously since 1938.
