How do you define “success”? I talk a bit about that in my interview for @bellanycmag (which is on stands now). I think success can mean different things to different people. I believe success is a really good life/work balance. Success is peace and a deep understanding of my value that isn’t wrapped up in what I am achieving. Success is found in relationships that matter and community connection. Success is having the opportunity and privilege to do something I love to do. And ultimately, success is how I define it, not how others do. I think the hardest part of believing in this definition of success is remembering that I’m living my life and not someone else’s. The agony of comparison is one of my biggest struggles. I regularly get consumed by comparison, and every time I’m stuck in a rut, the root of my struggle is usually wrapped up in comparing my life to another person’s. And then I forget to be grateful for the beauty that I’m experiencing and instead get stuck on wanting someone else’s “success”. Can anyone relate? What does success mean to you? Do you get stuck in the comparison game? How can you reframe your experience and see the success that is already there? #gratitude .

Oh my goodness - yes! I love this message. We talk about this a lot as authors. We aren't competitors. Readers are voracious and just because they buy gobs of books. But as creators, authors often compare themselves to others - sales stats, contracts signed, cute covers, and more. My authors guild constantly talks about cheering each other on instead of comparing. Because one person's idea of success is different from anothers. I totally agree that we need to find the beauty in every day of our journey. ♥

I relate totally! As an artist I get stuck in and blocked by comparison thoughts at times (they have bigger studios, they sell more, exhibit more, their work is better, etc!) but over the years I have learned to balance it with realising my artistic and creative path can only be travelled by me to create paintings that genuinely reflect my vision. That thought usually centres me back inside the work. I love your posts. ?

@thesarahdrew THANK YOU for posting! This is a daily struggle for me- to stop comparing my life to others. They have net seen what I have seen and lived what I have lived. This is unique to only me and I pray everyday for the grace to handle what is dealt to me and be grateful for MY life and those in it. ❤️ #mysuccess
