Holy spit. It’s been a banner May for Teahupoo. Two separate but similar XL swells bookended the month — first one on the 6th, and then again on the 23rd, captured brilliantly by Ben Thouard above. Both swells came about from a pair of progressively stronger lows that spun out from under New Zealand. “Neither of these storms were overly impressive in terms of wind speeds and sea heights,” said Surfline lead forecaster Jonathan Warren. “But there were two big factors for both the week of the 6th and the week of the 20th: storm movement and a ripe sea-state for swell productivity.” Head to the site for the full #GoodToEpic breakdown | @waterwaystravel
