SHANTIさんのインスタグラム写真 - (SHANTIInstagram)「Maya Nuts non caffeine drink. Fair Trade from Guatemala. Has a Smokey bitter coffee like flavor or if you’re Japanese a darker version of Barley Tea. There’s an interesting story behind this product. A Japanese woman who married a Guatemalan guy moved to Guatemala and found that the people in her town/ village were mainly involved in the lumber business- cutting down pristine rainforest. They didn’t like cutting down the forests that their ancestors had protected but if they pulled out then there would be no work. Deforestation is an on going major issue and it’s because of first world countries. We are responsible. Did you know we cut down 17 billion trees annually just to wipe our buts? Anyways this Japanese woman Miho, now the owner of the company GuateMaya noticed that the women of the village would go into the forest and pick these maya nuts off the ground. No cutting of trees, no farming needed. There was an abundance of these nuts so she cooperated with the local villagers and created this fair trade product. Wether we like it or not we are all connected in the world on different levels and our choices impact someone’s life or the survival of a rainforest on the other side of the world. If we are capable of compassion, and we are, isn’t the least we can do to make choices that have tiny ripple effects that make the livelihood of others happy? Just food for thought. #mayanut #mayanuts Side note: Tryptophan is an amino acid that humans need to obtain from their diet. It is an essential amino acid that is a precursor to the brain neurotransmitter serotonin. A diet that's deficient in tryptophan reduces serotonin production in the brain and can lead to depression, anxiety, mood disorders... so if you are having a hard time sleeping this could be your drink. Obviously too much of anything is never good.」5月28日 8時50分 - shantimusic
