Let’s pretend we spent today out in the sun. That it was warm enough to walk barefoot on the grass, but not too hot to make us feel sticky in our cotton shirts. The hat was mostly accessorial. The sunscreen was not. It never is. ⁣

We sipped on a chilled rosè we had brought from home, and nibbled on strawberries, between silly gossip and whispered secrets in each other’s ears. Then we laid quietly on the blanket and pretended to read, before falling into a sweet spring afternoon nap, only to be waken by the not so distant screams and laughters of the children playing football.⁣

Then as the sun started to slowly sink into a deep magenta sunset, shoulders covered in jackets against the evening chill, we tipsily chased our own long shadows back home, wondering what to make for dinner. A salad maybe. Fuss free and fresh.⁣

Let’s pretend this was not yet another, grey, gloomy May Sunday and that it didn’t poured down all day long.
