I'm so amazed that a movie born from such a small local area in Japan would receive such a prestigious award. After the big earthquake in 2011, the people there lost everything - many lost family, their homes, their farms, their businesses. At first, they had no hope, no energy, but yet they never gave up and never complained. To recover and bring new hope to everyone who suffered, this project was made with our heart and soul to tell the story of these courageous people . I truly admired their strength and kindness This award honors the people of Toyosato in Miyagi and is a beautiful story of overcoming tragedy with human spirit.
