One of the finest examples of 20th century jewellery in existence, the breathtaking ‘Beaumont Necklace’ tonight sold for CHF 3.6 million in Geneva. Described by auctioneer @davidbennett_sothebys as “the Chrysler building of jewellery”, the historic jewel is set with 11 immaculate, perfectly matched Colombian emeralds weighing over 75 carats. Created in the 1930s for Hélène Beaumont, American socialite and friend of the Duchess of Windsor, the necklace led a sale which unequivocally attested the enduring appeal of Art Deco.
