jjmorin86 The Emergency Medical and Treatment Labor Act (EMTLA)passed by Congress in 1986 explicitly forbids the denial of care to indigent or uninsured patients based on a lack of ability to pay. It also prohibits unnecessary transfers while care is being administered and prohibits the suspension of care once it is initiated, provisions that prevent dumping patients who cannot pay on other hospitals. The treatment of indigent and uninsured patients is a huge financial drain upon the health system, especially in areas where no public hospitals are available. Health care access already exists. You need to pay for it. If everyone paid the costs would go down. Unfortunately the people who do pay get overcharged to make up for those that don't.

avigibly Hi @cobiesmulders - long time Israeli fan here. Granted, we may not always do things in the best way possible, but when it comes to healthcare, we got it right - every citizen is here is entitled to one. When admitted to a hospital, treating you comes first, your insurance options are a distant second. No one EVER considers the cost when seeking for medical care. I whole heartedly support your cause from afar. Good luck.
