Japan on Friday began testing on the ALFA-X version of the Shinkansen bullet train, which is expected to be rolled out in 2030. The train’s operator says it will run at speeds of up to 224 mph, outpacing China’s Fuxing train, which runs at about 6 mph slower despite being designed with the same top speed capabilities.
