At least 40 people died in an airplane accident in #Moscow on May 5, @apnews reports, citing Russian authorities and Sheremetyevo Airport, after a Sukhoi SSJ100 operated by Aeroflot turned back for technical reasons after takeoff and made a hard landing that ignited a fire. The death toll was raised from 13, announced earlier. The flight bound for Murmansk had 73 passengers and five crew members; at least two children were reported among the dead. Dramatic video footage from the scene shows the aircraft speeding down a runway as it is engulfed by flames; an inflatable evacuation slide is unfurled for desperate passengers to escape.
