These otters are a great conservation success story. After being hunted to near extinction on the British Columbia coast, they were reintroduced from Alaska. Now, the kelp forests that disappeared during the otter’s absence, have since rebounded providing habitat for countless other species. Many of these species provide food and jobs for numerous coastal communities.
