This year’s @metcostumeinstitute exhibition, “Camp: Notes on Fashion,” celebrates the long history of camp in all of its iterations but namely as it was defined by Susan Sontag in her groundbreaking 1964 essay “Notes on ‘Camp.’ “The hallmark of camp is the spirit of extravagance,” Sontag wrote. To be camp is to be extra, in today’s parlance, so we went searching for runway looks that didn’t make it into the exhibition but could have.
