I was first introduced to Elettra during my time at Bill Blass, and we became fast friends. We always dreamed of going to the Met Gala together and the moment finally came. Elettra wanted to pay homage to her brilliant grandmother, the late Ingrid Bergman, and chose to do so by teaming up with me to remake one of her dresses. The dress was truly incredible-- the beadwork, shirring and boning was unlike anything I have ever seen and while we wanted to respect the integrity of the dress and it's heritage, we also wanted to make it a bit more youthful, sensual and modern for Elettra. To be able to bring modernity to a dress with a such a rich history and a storied owner was truly a special moment, and for me, that's what the Met Gala is all about.
