Work to Ride is many things at once. It provides a place for youth from around Philadelphia to learn how to ride and play polo, but it also teaches them responsibility: in order to stay in the program, the kids are tasked one day a week with getting the stables in order (they receive a stipend for doing so) while keeping their grades up. There are opportunities to volunteer through a “Counselor in Training” initiative, as well as the option of summer employment once they’re old enough.
