Two transcendent paintings on paper created by Mark Rothko in 1969 – the final year of the iconic artist’s life – will highlight our offering of works from the esteemed collection of Blema and H. Arnold Steinberg this May. Pictured here is ‘Untitled (Red and Burgundy Over Blue)’, a dazzling embodiment of Rothko’s celebrated Color Field compositions, which are distinguished as rare, exquisitely vibrant examples from a period of his career that was largely characterized by a predominantly sombre palette.
