Making its auction debut, Man with flag (1967-8) is the earliest work by Mohammed Al Saleem – one of the pioneering founders of Saudi’s modern #art scene – ever to appear at #auction. Best-known for his later period of #abstract landscapes, this thickly-impastoed piece gives an insight into the beginnings of the artist’s signature fusion of #abstraction with #figuration.
