The well-known Ah Lan’s lei stand at the Hilo International Airport is Kalā's Hilo ‘ohana. Though there are many styles of lei that they make and sell, Kalā is known for one – the pua kenikeni. His effort to perfect this style of lei comes with a respect for his parents and theirs, as their love for pua kenikeni stemmed from the act of gifting it to others.
