Here’s her story: “My name is Katrina Morris and I teach in a very rural school in Idaho, Timberline Elementary. Our school serves two towns in Idaho - Pierce and Weippe. We are a K-12 school with about 200 kids and we are a Title 1 school. I currently have 16 students in my 4th grade class. I love that in our small school the kids taken care of like family. It was a dream of mine to be a teacher from a very young age. I loved to play teacher as a young child and continue to really like my job. There is never a dull moment in teaching! The day flies by. Living wage jobs are hard to come by in our community and that often shows in our classroom population. I battle many of the effects from poverty and childhood ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences) everyday. However, we (teachers and students) do our best each day! One of the most important things to me in my classroom is to develop positive relationships with my students. I am a strong believer that positive relationships foster learning. I love to share my passion for reading, technology, math and history with my students but most of all I hope they leave my class being a better person! While supplies don’t make the classroom it sure would be nice to have stuff when you need it! Thank you!” Her wishlist will be in my bio.
