Stacey and her three sisters own 2,000 acres of forest in Little River County, which her great-great-great-grandfather purchased in 1835. This is an upland mixed hardwood-pine stand, which includes various oak and hickory species, winged elm, green ash, and loblolly pine that range in age between 25 and 30 years. Here, Stacey surveys a beaver dam that has flooded 15-20 acres of woodland.
