For you to get an idea of how important this day was for me continue reading 😋... I began modeling decades ago, believing that I would eventually get to model in advertisements/commercials/print ads/fashion show in the #ClassicHollywood #PinupStyle. After many years of modeling I would often see the #1940s and #1950s style often revamped for modern fashion shows and advertisements, but I would also observe the same image being repeated...THE LACK OF USING #BlackWomen in this style. So I was never called in for castings or to do jobs in this style 😤😡 Hello?!?!? Beautiful Black women existed in America (and worldwide 😋) prior to the existence of visual media! But thanks to good old fashion racism, discrimination, and more 🙄😒the manufactured ideals of #BeautyStandards chose to practically exclude adoration and acknowledgment of black women (especially those with dark skin ) as examples of #beauty.
As a result, of the lack of representation, I began sharing my photos in 2011, after having already waited more than a decade to be used as a model for #OldHollywood styled jobs. #EllenVonUnwerth is one of the photographers who’s work I admired for many years because she shot photos that embodied beauty, playful, and sometimes naughty images reminiscent of the spirit of Pinups in 40s and 50s.
I was greatly disappointed that I missed out on meeting her when she attended the last 2 years of #VivaLasVegasRockabillyWeekend that I had not attended.
So this third year of her attendance was a charm! I received a text the day I arrived at Viva asking my availability (thanks @_MissMiranda for giving my info😁). Friday I asked @ディタ・フォン・ティース for a few sets of lingerie, and she came through! All the stars aligned to make this moment happen! Now I am eagerly awaiting to see the images!!!
