Hundreds of mourners, most of them wearing white, attended a memorial service at the church, where more than 100 people died during Easter services. One priest told CNN that he hadn’t seen a mass funeral like it since 1984, shortly after the outbreak of the country’s bloody civil war. Tuesday has been designated as an official day of mourning in Sri Lanka following the string of bombings across the country on Easter Sunday, which killed at least 310 people.
