Looking back on my first trip to Indian Creek almost ten years ago the climbing scene here looked a little different. Nearly all the grubby climbers I hung out with in the (then) barren field of Creek Pasture were guys. I didn’t mind it. People are people and I like men just as much as women. But these past few weeks almost without noticing it, my time in The Creek has been dominated by strong women. Strong either in climbing, character, photography/art or general presence. This change can only be accounted for by wider positive change. Of course there is still work left to be done but it’s change nonetheless. It’s easy to find differences between us but what brings us together are the things we share: dirty skin, a passion for moving over rock, jokes, care for each other. raunihigson Fills me with optimism (in what can be pretty grim times) to see the positive impact women are having in climbing, and it has wider repercussions. Love the way (real) men are not afraid to speak up about what they are learning from women, for example. That is quite a new phenomenon (I'm 49, A LOT has changed in a short space of time, esoecially in last decade, as you say). Hurray. And let's all celebrate together, because it's so good for all of us ??

ken_davies The climbing, outdoor community has a high ratio of really strong women. (Not talking about muscles, talking about presence.) I have always enjoyed their companionship and respected them as climbers and friends. Most can climb better than me too!

chris_schulte Admiring and enduring, but mostly shutting up and learning from endless lady chat is likely a big part of what makes a fella a gentleman. Well pleased, thank you ladies ??

blake.benjamin Women are without a doubt truly amazing creatures. I strongly believe they can endure pain and suffering much better than men. They also smell better!
