It was late in the evening but with the excitement I felt at FINALLY being in this city I had long dreamt of, sleep was not an option. I dropped my bags off at the apartment I was renting in the Marais district and raced out into the streets. Strolling along the Seine I saw her, looking large and lit like a beacon. My body and my heart steered me towards her like True North until I stood at her door. Larger and more magnificent than I had even imagined. She welcomed me and let me know “Oui, vous êtes arrivé. Bienvenue!” Any knots of anxiety in my soul instantly untied. I will never forget that moment. My heart aches that she has been wounded and while I know she will recover I mourn the loss of what she was.
