At 37 years of age, I find true vulnerability beautiful. I don’t find perceived perfection beautiful (imagery, Insta feeds, celebrities, stories, brands, homes… etc) there was a time I did. But to me now, beauty is in uniqueness, it’s in the cracks that are filled with alchemized gold from the process of growth, wear, patina and resilience. ⠀

The cracks hold the true beauty... but they can only come from times of discomfort, and I think it’s important we have conversations around the discomforts, and the hardships, the frustrations and the times of isolation. I think there is beauty and power in sharing our vulnerabilities. ⠀

I love using this platform to collaborate with brands who use their platforms to facilitate important conversations. Tomorrow I will be joining an incredible panel of women for L’Oréal Paris, to talk about what beauty means to me: ⠀ ⠀ ⠀

mystyle_ks Your so right, I once had someone I looked up to tell me my strength was my vulnerability. At that time I struggled to really understand it but after working it out it helped me in so many ways. When I’m vulnerable I’m passionate, when I’m passionate my actions, ideas and decisions become clearer. I’m connected to something greater within me so I no longer hold it back or keep my vulnerability inside I allow it to take control, I go with it and I’m so much better for it. ☺️

qr8_curate What a magnificent platform. As I get older I get more intolerant of the lack of authenticity and honesty in beauty imagery. Thank you @samanthawills and @lorealmakeup for facilitating honest conversation and appreciating us as intelligent, informed consumers who appreciate transparency and aspirational role models ??

bichky I think this is such a powerful conversation as women throughout history has been programmed to feel that in order to feel accepted and unconditionally loved, they need to look beautiful but with posts like this they can learn to believe they are enough!

amelia_jewellery Agree with ALL of this so much. All the ‘perfection’ out there just seems so shallow to me now. It actually irks me a bit. (Ok, a lot.) ?
