“The Nike Air Max 90 ‘Concord’ is the oldest pair of kicks I own; it’s also the most special. They’re from the 2005 History of Air pack. This colourway was also the very first Women’s Air Max 90. It was this pair of Nikes, that started my passion for sneakers. I was 14 in 1990. I’ll never forget when girls in my school started rocking up in these kicks. For me, it was love at first sight!! Nikes were a big deal back then. They were SO BEAUTIFUL and I NEEDED them. But, they were expensive, and there was no way my parents would pay $200 for sneakers. So they were never going to be mine. Nike didn’t re-release 90s again until 2002. I was working full time, and I FINALLY got to cop a pair! As soon as I put them on, I fell in love. They made me feel special, and so my passion for collecting was ignited. I still get excited receiving a fresh pair of kicks after all these years. The best part? I belong to a community of like minded people who share the same passion. We all have a sneaker story.
