The fragility of the human existence that lies beneath any publicly perceived success. And so…I went to the darkest time in my journey– it was ugly & it was fucking painful. A time in my life many years ago, learning of infidelity in a long term relationship I was in. At the time I discovered it, it fucking floored me. It was a brutal, & what I thought was the worst of the information was nothing compared to what I would go on to discover. ⠀ ⠀ But what I learnt down in that darkness inspired & lead me to launch the @SamanthaWillsFoundation – but at the time in the pain and fuckery, there were days I found it hard to breath… I felt so isolated, & nothing felt safe. ⠀ ⠀ I knew it was there, in the dark, murky waters of that painful - yet truly significant - experience that I needed to build my presentation for the #FoundersTalks tour, Because I knew that if I had experienced what I did, others would have also - & that made it very important to shed light on. ⠀ ⠀ [IMAGE] Getting up in front of any size crowd to tell your darkest truths is daunting, but 60 seconds before I am to be at side of stage, I stand by myself, try to breath, practice my intro line….& I say this prayer: “Please help me to tell my story in a way that makes people feel less alone. Please allow me to help people feel safe”. — That’s it. That’s all I want to do. ⠀ ⠀ I want to make people feel safe, & I think safety is felt by feeling like we are not alone. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ As human beings, we are strong, we are resilient…& we are fragile. As Paulo Coelho says so perfectly, the strongest love is the love that can demonstrate its fragility. So I encourage you to surround yourself with people you can be your most fragile self with. Wait for people who love you without condition, people who provide an always accessible safe haven to where you can bring the darkest, most broken pieces of yourself…And in return – when you can, do that for others.
