Photo by George Steinmetz @geosteinmetz There are only 50,000 James’ flamingos in the world, and most of them nest on Laguna Colorada, at 14,000 ft. in the Bolivian Andes. The lake is stained orange by a microscopic algae and diatoms that thrive in the mineralized spring water, and nourish the filter feeding birds. This picture was taken with my motorized paraglider, which was extremely challenging in a foot-launched aircraft. #altiplano #paramotor #inextremis
