Photos by @carltonward | A white egret takes flight as a great blue heron (second photo) pushes it out of a fishing hole in the Florida Everglades. One of my favorite camera trap sites in the Fakahatchee Strand, where I'm working to get photos and videos of bears and panthers crossing water, is also a favorite spot for wading birds. It can be frustrating because they trigger my cameras thousands of times and use up all the batteries, this time before a panther came. But the camera also documents some cool behavior in a very dynamic wetland. I'm still waiting for the right moment with a Florida panther traveling through this swamp for my #pathofthepanther with @insidenatgeo, revealing the story of the last big cat surviving in the eastern United States to inspire the protection of the #floridawildlifecorridor.
