krista.bruneau My son is 19 and just enlisted into the United States air-force ! When he was born I knew he was different he never cried . As a toddler he never wanted to sleep over anywhere and he started to become ocd. He would refer to himself as a third person ! I can not recall one time I spanked him or grounded him to his room . It was a pleasure to be his mother . In high school he missed no days . He was doing trig in 9th grade ! It seemed he was socially off often disappearing from friends when he would invite them over . Very ocd rigid time line and he always took things literally no grey only black or white ! My son has aspbergers and I didn’t know what he had until 15 . As a result we are estranged because he can only feel one emotion at a time ! He feels anger ! I wish I had known sooner then I could have been a better mom for him , instead of saying hurry up come on I’d waited for a min or so that he thought he had before leaving to school ! He knows he is diff but does not know the word ! I often wonder had I known and told him , would he have been starting quarter back or enlisted into the Air Force ?? Only limitations is the ones we place on or kids and on our selves ! Cherish every min , I would give every day of the rest of my life to have one day back with my son !

missakm22 My son was diagnosed as non verbal autistic only two months ago. One doctor picked up his low iron levels and suggest supplementing his iron. We added a high dose iron supplement, DHA and Vitamin C (for iron absorption) to his day and he has said Mummy and Daddy tonight for the first time ever, played with kids in a playground this week and has not stopped looking around. Childhood anaemia is no joke and not something we were even aware off!

We are a family who supports my autistic son, and we teach everyone how to be a communication partner for my son as he uses his device to speak!
