Last night, at about midnight, I finally thought of a good April Fool’s Day prank to play on my kids. I tiptoed into the kitchen, took out a box of Lucky Charms, poured it all in one big bowl and then picked out every single marshmallow. Then I hid the marshmallows up in the cabinet and put all the plain cereal back in the box. I don’t usually let them have Lucky Charms for breakfast, but I figured part of my prank would be surprising them with the option. Sadly, the whole thing was a little anti-climatic because this year, unlike previous years, Mazzy and Harlow have been waiting and prepping for April Fool’s Day. Harlow had frozen a glass of orange juice for Mazzy the day before and I figured it was more important for me to let Harlow play her trick before I tried to get them with mine. Mazzy didn’t fall for Harlow’s trick, and then was suspicious when I said they could have Lucky Charms for breakfast, so she opted out. Harlow was still not wise to my trick, but just as she was getting super confused by her marshmallow-less Lucky Charms, Mazzy told her that I had pranked her. And so. That was it. We have entered a new phase of April Fool’s Day pranks where the kids aren’t so easily fooled. I think this is part of #thebigkidyears 💁🏻‍♀️I’ll put the video up in my story. On the plus side, there was lots of laughter this year instead of tears! #aprilfoolsday
