#PeggyBacon's classroom sketches from the Art Students League in New York City show how more and more women were pursuing artistic instruction and becoming professional artists in the early 1900s. In the past, men and women were taught separately, and painter #ThomasEakins was ousted from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts for allowing female students to study from a nude male model. In this print, Bacon shows how the art classroom had become more integrated along gender lines by 1919, if not yet along racial lines. #WomensHistoryMonth
