So, is it safe for me to take a bath while #pregnant?
Last night I ran a warm bath, added in a cup of #epsomsalts as suggested by you all, lit a few candles and just lay in there floating for 20 minutes. It was actually the most calming experience ever, so thank you!
ATM, I'm just about to hit #25weekspregnant, and every day is strenuous on my body. From leg and foot swelling to aching backs and hips. I've forever got my legs up the wall, to elevating my feet on the lounge and even giving my feet their own pillow at night so the swelling can subside. I just want my body to stop aching!
So, is it safe to take a bath since saunas and hot tubs seem to be a no-no?
I did do some research and found out that baths are safe and super-relaxing when I’m #pregnant. However, the bath water temp should be WARM and not hot. "Pregnant women shouldn't let their core body temperature get higher than 102.2°F/ 39°C since there may be a greater risk for the baby to be born with brain and spinal cord defects" states The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). They say, to be extra-safe, make sure the bath stays below 100°F/ 37.7°C. Also, as we all know, we need to AVOID hot tubs, jacuzzis and saunas. They can raise your body temperature dangerously high in just 10 minutes, and that's not safe for the baby! But as always, consult your doctor first!

See David Vivian Jones (Osteo) in Double Bay. He is a wonder and helped me through two very painful pregnancies- which involved pelvic pain and sciatica. Miraculously, pain disappeared after babies were born but I had to avoid strenuous exercise, yoga etc etc and just accept that this was temporary and swimming was the only thing that could do. A pregnancy pillow really helps for sleeping too.

I've always been a shower person till my 7th month when i found out how those warm baths were helping me to relax my tense body and abandon my thoughts. That's why when I got to the hospital the day of his birth, I asked for the bath... and when I entered the bath i knew that was the place... it helped me a lot a beautiful birth and he was born very calm ❤️

I think it all depends on how hot the bath is and how long you take your bath 😊 ! Also, I recommend you check out a Chiropractor for your back/pelvic pains. Very effective and safe for pregnancy and studies also confirm that it helps lower the time of laybor by 25% for first time pregnancy and by 33% for second and up pregnancies 👌😊

Go and see a physio that specializes in pregnancy related issues/pelvic instability and Pilates. Took me so long of moaning with my first pregnancy that I wish someone had of told me earlier. At 25 weeks you shouldn’t be that uncomfortable - get some relief! If you were in aus I would suggest some places. Best of luck

Controversial issue since many (lay) people don’t approve of saunas or Bikram while pregnant, but some OBGYNs approve. 🤷🏻♀️ I am very interested in this topic - thank you for reminding me to do some research!

Had a bath every night in both pregnancies. Just not TOO hot and be carefully getting up as you can sometimes get a bit lightheaded x
