Hannah Starkey's photographs explore female perspective as both subject and viewer. 'The more I do it, the more relevant it becomes' she says. Like Cindy Sherman's 'Untitled Film Stills' from the late 70s, Starkey's images appear to portray emotionally charged moments from a fictional film. The narratives suggested by scenery, accessories and body language are deliberately ambiguous, leaving the viewer to imagine what this might be.
Click the link in today's bio to hear Starkey talk through her process when it comes to creating an image, and how having young daughters radicalised her into making work that explores the lives of women.
