I wanted to share the experience that I am currently facing with my new 2018 Tacoma. In September 2018 I was able buy my dream truck, a new 4x4 Tacoma. Unfortunately the experience has not lived up to my expectation.
The second week off the lot, i noticed a brake shudder. I took it to the dealer and they replaced a few brake components. Upon return, I noticed the brake shudder still persisted.
I took my truck to a dealer for the SECOND time. They replaced the rear axel and other brake components. Upon return, I noticed the brake shudder still persisted.
I took my truck to the dealer for a THIRD time. They told me that they could not identify the source of the issue and needed their corporate engineer to take a look.
I took my truck to the dealer a FOURTH time. It has now been in the shop for over 2wks. The dealer told me that they replaced the axel again, and replaced the drums. The issue is still present. They mentioned that they are seeing the issue with multiple units, even some on the line. Corporate recommended that they take a unit off the line without a shudder and replace my components with those. That does NOT sound like an effective solution to me.
All in all, this is not what I expected of Toyota. All of these issue have required countless phone calls during work hours and multiple trips to the dealership. My family has owned many Toyota vehicles and had planned to own many more in years to come, but this experience will make us think twice. I’m hoping Toyota will do the right thing and get me into the truck that I paid for.

@ashtoneedler I read somewhere and saw someone say that the 2jz engine is also designed by germans or something but idk that would mean the older supra was half german too but i admit they shouldve made it compete with the gtr again but they didnt prolly to make it easily modified like the older idk

@kiidjae I just wish they had started with a fresh slate instead of rebadging something else. It's a bit underwhelming too considering the old Supra was a top of the line performer in it's day, in it's class albeit.

Only thing I dislike is that toyota wont offer a manual option and the damn wind noise is ridiculous:( cant drive the supra with the windows down it sounds like your inside a parachute flapping around.....

So much misinformation out there about this car. It may share some stuff with the Z3 but it’s far from it. I personally love the new look, very nice base for mods.

@toyotausa Why should someone buy this $50k sports car over a pre-owned sports car with more power and better styling for around the same price?
