Snowflake in a slice of light. There is a glass cup that sits on our porch in Colorado at all times. That way, if the snowflakes suddenly get good, I have a pre-chilled surface to shoot them on. On this particular day, the glass was dirty from sitting around for a while and gathering dust, so I wiped it hastily with my finger, leaving water streaks behind. This neat little flake fell on the glass, with a funny little half-melted and less remarkable flake in tow. I always wished this photo was cleaner, but it has sort of grown on me just the way it is, a weird mix of all sorts of stuff. •
