Our @lebonmarcherivegauche installation inspired by the SS19 anniversary show: “A collection of collections”. Pressing flowers is an ancient art form. Botanists from both Greek and Roman periods were known to preserve flowers using techniques that continue today and it has long been practised in China and Japan where it’s known as “oshibana”. The art gained popularity in England during the Victorian era and has experienced a revival in the last 30 years. I used to press them in my notebooks growing up and then created abstract collages from the flowers. I loved seeing how the colours change in time!! For @lebonmarcherivegauche we collected the flowers and hand pressed all the blooms and preserved them to create a backdrop to the SS19 collection” XxMARY #marykatrantzou #10yearsofkatrantzou ?????
