Most first time visitors don’t realize that Arizona’s Antelope Canyon is split up into two different areas: Upper and Lower. The main difference is that Lower is shaped like a “V” where the top is wide and the floor is narrow while Upper is the opposite, where the top is narrow and the floor is wider. This can have a big impact on the amount of light filtering in, which makes these slot canyons some of the rare locations on earth where it’s best to photograph during the middle of the day when the sun is high. While both can get quite hectic and overcrowded, there are times, especially during the low season, where you can find a bit of peace and solitude in this other worldly place.
